Foley Workshop

Image
This isn't the first time I have been asked to create a change of ambience and feel utilising foley and colour changes. This was fairly good though, I utilised four audio layers for the happier upbeat footage and five layers for the more doom-and-gloom footage. This contrast of effects in how the sound is made and utilised allows me to give distinctive feelings through audio alone which proved the vitality of audio as a primary component to making a film.

Expressive Lighting

Below is a list of some of the techniques used for lighting and how they each differently affect the image and scene for different effects and feelings Chiaroscuro - Overcoming the lighting differences with a lack of contrast. Key Light - Most Important light, the main focus of the scene is likely to be lit this way. Fill Light - Opposite of Key Light, adding additional depth to the scene and the focus gets more mood. Back Light - Separates subject from background, my favourite lighting effect. Hard Lighting - Harsh Soft Lighting - Fluorescent/Blurry Naturalism Pictorialism   Subtractive + Additive Shot Recreation: (Inspiration) Film Noir: Book Lighting: Overall, the workshop was a positive and enriching experience where I learnt a new appreciation for colour and the feelings they empower. Q Cabs: Q uality C olour A ngle B rightness S hape Key Kelvins: Warm - 3200k Daylight - 5200k I really enjoyed this workshop, working with Sam on the different effects that lighting could have on different projects and how the lighting can affect the camera as well, finding that fine balance between light and camera for the ideal and most natural-looking shot. In fact, I was able to utilise my brand new understanding of the Kelvin meter by utilising those skills in third-year Anna's project. Where I balanced the white balance with the purple hue so it looked dark and mysterious whilst also not looking completely unnatural and off putting.

Evaluation

I can genuinely say that this project was something special. This was a positive and collaborative achievement that each member of the team should be proud of, and I am proud of each of them too. I believe on a more personal note that after the disastrous and controversial self-reflection I gave the last project, I have grown up a lot when it comes to acceptance of team collaboration and building up friendly foundations. Am I perfect yet? No, and I never will be, but I genuinely think that this time around there has been some really positive team collaboration, and this time I was incorporated into that, rather than trying to be beyond that at any point. This is a mindset that I am proud of change and something I want to continue to adapt to and become the better version of myself that I planned to be when moving down here. Contrary to what I expected approaching this project, I really enjoyed the quick turnaround that we had, which sure was stressful in the element, however, the outco...

Crypto News Documentation

Image
The idea for the cryptocurrency originally came from Harry, as both me and Adam were struggling with an idea to agree on. As the teams were still segregated into four teams at this point, as well as the run-up to Christmas caused a few team members to travel back home making them unavailable during this period,  it made the initial conversations quite difficult, but cryptocurrency was decided, now all we needed to do was get planning underway, roles assigned and find our lane. I thought from early on that it would important to create a shared folder, to which we could all upload our work, and it has been well utilised by every team member, making the entire process clear-cut as to who has completed what task. On top of that, our group chat on Whatsapp has been very active since day dot, making for communication that has been healthy and active between the team, open and honest to keep development honest and real. This distinguishable difference between talking and doing can be seen...
